Celebrate Good Times

Posted by: Chris | November 9, 2009 | No Comment |

This Term, our class is doing another inquiry. This time about Celebrations. Our guiding question is “Why do we Celebrate?”. We had to pick 5 celebrations from three different continents. I have an exception. I am doing 4 instead of three continents. I have decided to do a Powerpoint on the following celebrations: Eid-ul-Adha, Saudi Arabia and surrounds, Songkran, Thailand, Shrove Tuesday, England, St Lucia Day, Sweden and La Quema del Diablo, Guatemala.

Why do we celebrate?

What is a celebration?

How do you celebrate Christmas, if at all?

The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate. Oprah Winfrey

Our awesome camp at El Shaddai

Posted by: Chris | September 25, 2009 | 6 Comments |

Our camp for 2009 was at El Shaddai, Wellington went for three days. We did activities including Rock Climbing, Archey, the Vertical challenge ( a activity including a ladder hanging from their gym and climbing on milk crates while the other people from your team stack them up), a Giant Swing, Fishing, Canoeing and even Raft Making. My favourite activity was the Canoeing. If you were in Adelaide on Tuesday the 22ndyou would know that a thunderstorm hit Adelaide. We were in our canoes when the thunderstorm started. We watched some amazing lightning strikes from our canoes in the pouring rain. We rushed back to the camp to have a nice, warm shower afterwards. For three busy days, the camp dished up some challenges including crossing “lava” with “pressurised mats”. Unfortunately, it rained and rained. The camp owner said it was the most rain they had ever had during a camp. Lucky us. The bus was quieter on the way back. It was great fun overall.

The blogging challenge

Posted by: Chris | September 14, 2009 | 1 Comment |

Hi,

I am in the student blogging challenge set up by Ms. Wyatt.

For the first week of the blogging challenge we had to write a post answering these questions.

Why did you join the blogging challenge?

I joined the blogging challenge because I thought it would be a great way to improve my blog and get other people to visit my blog.

Do you want to take part in the commenting section more than the better blogger section? Why?

I want to participate in the commenting section more but I don’t mind. I want to do it more because I want to get my blog out for other people to see.

What do you hope some of the activities include?

Lots and lots of commenting to other people blogs.

Finally, what do you hope to get out of the challenge by the end of the ten weeks?

To get more people to visit my blog than before the challenge.

If doing the commenting challenge, leave a comment on this post for me to read.

Hi, Ms Wyatt.

I have decided to do the better blogging and commenting challenge for the next ten weeks. I would be nice to know if you know anyone who is doing a great joob of the challenge so I can have a look.

Hi,
On Wednesday the 12th, the NZ performance choir worked with and performed to The Heights Year 4 to 6’s. We performed a number of songs from the Festival of Music choir book including We’re All in this Together and Remember the Days of the Old School Yard. We performed with the Year 12 Voice Ensemble and the Year 7’s of our NZ Choir. I’m sure that it was great fun for all.

Term 3

Posted by: Chris | July 27, 2009 | 2 Comments |

This term we will be doing a heap of work and fun.

IB Project

This term we have our IB personal project to complete. It includes building, creating or writing your answer to your guiding question and writing a process journal. We have to include at least two Areas of Interaction, all your rough notes (even if you have a different idea to your final project), your steps to building, creating or writing your project and lots of pictures in your journal. We have 11 weeks to complete it. I’m doing a highlights DVD on Pelé.

Collaborative Enquiry

This term we will be doing work with Mrs. Burtons class. Our topic is endangered species and the human impact. We have already done some sharing on Etherpad. Our first work was on all the words that have something to do with endangered. Then we put it on a wordle. To check it out click here. Our second piece of work was on What does endangered mean?.

My Wordle

Posted by: Chris | July 22, 2009 | 1 Comment |

Hi,

I found a wonderful site called wordle.net. I got one for my blog. It sees what words are on your site, but you can add your own text, and puts it in to collage. The bigger the word, the more it is used.
